Good to hear that.In my opinion UET Ranking can be improved rapidly by inducting the instructors with real good practical exposure to the industry. Since I am mechanical engineer I will suggest that Engineers from Power,Petrochemical and Oil & Gas sectors can do that jod for us. But for that these engineers will have to be paid according to the market which seems difficult a bit but still it is possible.

Hello All,

I have to discuss some facts about University Ranking.
You might have seen that "University of Lahore", a private sector university is ranked higher than UET! Those of you who ever chanced to visit UOL would be surely surprised. and those of you who haven't visited UOL, let me describe it.

You would fail to find any apparatus other than computers in UOL Labs. They "make" telecom engineers on computer only. and same is the situation in all their labs.

Now regarding the faculty.. UOL faculty has 3rd level UETIANS.

Regarding Research work.. Citings and research work from UOL is hard to find.

and the students there! all those who fail to get admission in any govt university are found in such private universities.

Then why is UOL or any private university ranked higher?

Because of their so called Documentation submitted to ranking organizations. If these organizations ever had visited both UET and UOL campus, the ranking would have been different.

UET does not have such "glamourous" website as these universities have.

UET labs are equipped with state of the art apparatus. Just an example that you can launch a full fledged cellular service (whether GSM, CDMA etc) from UET telecom labs.

The faculty has no match. No university in pakistan can boast of such faculty. and what keeps such standard is the UET tradition that only Gold medalists bear the honour to be in UET faculty and not the third level ones.

HEC ranking shows that Students of UET are the most brilliant ones throughout pakistan. HEC has given highest points to UET in student category.

I don't think that any university in pakistan can beat UET in number of international Research Papers.

Now i assure you that next time UET ranking would be much better because it would submit all these details to International Ranking Organization.

1. A general visit to the UET by all alumni who plan to be in Lahore on a certain date. The alumni can meet the students, faculty, and administration of the university.

2. Alumni who are experts in their field can deliver lectures or hold a seminar on specific subject that would be useful for the students and the faculty.

Please let us know if you plan to visit Lahore in December 2007. If so, the dates you would be available. In addition, if you can deliver a lecture, please let us know the subject, duration, and what kind of audience would benefit from it.

UET has provided almost free education to us. We are living a life of relative luxury here in the West as compared to our days at the University. I hope we can help others who are currently enrolled at UET to complete and concentrate on their eduction.

If you are interested please go to the home page and click on "Your Money at Work at UET". Your donations are tax free in USA.

I have received a lot of suggestions and cynical comments on this issue. However, I have also received generous unsolicited funds from UET Alumni and non-alumni. So far we have send $6200.00 to 23 students this year. We will send $3100.00 for the quarter in September. Funds are needed now for December payment. I hope this forum will help.

Also UET alumni board met with professor Noor Sheikh, Dean of Electrical Engineering at UET in Washington DC. Professor Sheikh has expressed desire for alumni to help with curriculum development and short courses at UET.
